The Botwe School Junction branch of the Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA) visited the newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Adentan Municipal Assembly on Thursday, 18th April 2024, to extend a warm welcome and congratulations to him upon his appointment by the president.
Led by their chairman, Mr. Yaya Mohammed, the group raised concerns about challenges faced by drivers within the Botwe enclave, such as the absence of a designated car station and the issue of floating drivers that they want the assembly to address.
Mr. Mohammed highlighted the need for a car station, suggesting that an unused government land behind the Sowah Din Basic School at Botwe be developed for this purpose. He also expressed worries about floating drivers disrupting their operations and urged the MCE to address this issue promptly.
In response, Hon. Ebenezer Doku assured the union that he would work with stakeholders to resolve their grievances. He proposed using City Guards to monitor floating drivers, acknowledging that this may not completely solve the problem but could help mitigate their disruptions.
Furthermore, MCE pledged to visit the drivers at their operational centers to discuss ways to improve the sector and boost the socioeconomic development of the Municipal assembly.
The meeting was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ebenezer Doku, Municipal Transport Director, Mr. Sulemana Mahama, Municipal Road Engineer Mr. Emmanuel Salifu, Assembly member for Nmai Dzorn Electoral Area, Hon. David Animah Kwabena Atiah, Municipal Head of City Guards Mr. Gilbert Gariba, Assistant Municipal Development Planning Officer, Mr. Paa Kweku Ofosu-Tenkorang and some other drivers who were part of the delegation.
