On 5th August 2026, the Adentan Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Ella Esinam Christine Nongo has demonstrated its support for the celebration of the Homowo Festival with a donation of food items, drinks and cash to the traditional authorities and people of Adenta.

The items presented by the Assembly included bags of maize, gallons of red oil, cartons of assorted drinks, packs of bottled water, and a cash donation to support the celebration of the festival.

The donation was received on behalf of the Adenta Chief, Nii Dorblo II, by his representatives, who expressed their profound gratitude to the Adentan Municipal Assembly for the gesture. They commended the Assembly for its continued efforts to support and promote the cultural heritage and traditions of the people.

The representatives noted that the items donated were not only intended to support the people during the festivities but would also play an important role in the traditional observances of Homowo, including offerings made to the gods and the spirits of the ancestors of the land. They emphasized that such support contributes to the preservation and promotion of the cultural values and traditions of the Ga people.

Speaking at the presentation, the MCE stressed the importance of supporting the Homowo Festival, describing it as an important cultural occasion that brings the people together and provides an opportunity to preserve and celebrate their heritage.

The MCE further called on the youth and residents to conduct themselves responsibly throughout the festive period. She urged everyone to observe the ban on noise-making and respect the directives associated with the celebration.

She also encouraged residents to take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety and wellbeing during the festivities, while calling for peace, unity and responsible celebration.
