National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)

The primary responsibility of the scheme is to ensure financial access to basic health care services for residents without having to pay out-of-pocket at the point of health care service delivery.

Activities

  • Ensure equity in health care coverage access by the poor to healthcare services, protection of the poor and vulnerable against financial risk.
  • Grant credentials to healthcare providers and facilities that provide healthcare services to members of the National Health Insurance Scheme.

National Youth Authority (NYA)

The NYA exists to provide relevant and conducive environment that defines and supports the implementation of effective frontline youth empowerment practices, focusing on young people’s participation in socio-economic and political development whilst facilitating private and third sector provider investments in youth empowerment.

Youth Employment Agency (YEA)

The YEA was established under the Youth Employment Act 2015 (Act 887) to empower young people to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic and sustainable development of the nation. Its objective is to support the youth between the ages of 15 to 35 years through skills training and internship modules to transit from a situation of unemployment to that of employment.

The objective of the agency is to develop, coordinate, supervise and facilitate the creation of jobs for the youth in the country.

Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission is an independent body overseeing elections in Ghana. They work to promote public confidence in the democratic process and ensure its integrity.

Activities:

  • Provides inputs for the formation of policies
  • Ensures the development and implementation of guidelines for the conduct of elections.
  • Ensures the demarcation of electoral boundaries for election purposes.

Business Advisory Center (BAC)

The BAC creates a  single dynamic integrated organization adequately capitalized and capable of responding to the needs of the small-scale enterprises sector.

Activities

  • Contribute to the creation of an enabling environment for the small-scale enterprise development
  • Contribute to the development of an enterprise culture in Ghana by facilitating access to credit.
  • Facilitates MSEs access to substantial and high quality Business Development Services for their development.

National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE)

The NCCE works to promote and sustain democracy and inculcate in the Ghana citizenry, the awareness of their rights and obligations, through civic education.

Activities

  • Develop and maintain with the community the sense of the principles and objectives of the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana;
  • Educate and encourage the public to defend this Constitution at all times, against all forms of abuse and violation;
  • Develop policies for the consideration of Government, from time to time, programs at the national, regional and district levels aimed at realizing the objectives of this Constitution.

Social Welfare and Community Development

They coordinate and promotes social development programs and policies to improve the welfare of people and communities in the service.

It plans, initiates and coordinates community based projects, day care centers and services for rehabilitation of the physically challenged.
