The Municipal Planning and Coordinating Unit (MPCU) of the Adentan Municipal Assembly has held a two days Departmental Review meeting which took place from Thursday 12th to Friday 13th January,2023 at the premises of the Assembly.

The purpose of the meeting was to gather reports from the various departments within the Assembly on their activities and check the progress made by each department in regards to the target they set for the previous year

.

In an interview with the Municipal Planning and Coordinating Officer, Madam Ivy Oduro Kwarteng in response to her overview of how the departments performed in carrying out their duties from the meeting said their work is “appreciable and satisfactory” amidst the challenges they faced in the cause of the previous year to achieve most of their targets with persistence.

“Generally, I will say it is satisfactory and appreciable even though they had challenges. Some departments such as the Social Welfare, Agric, Culture and Education deed most of the activities set for the year with just a few not being able to complete theirs. We are still collating to come out with the general performance of the Assembly “she stated.

In addition, Madam Kwarteng stated that the major problem faced by the unit is the delay in the submission of the quarterly reports from the various departments. This she said most often tries to prevent the unit from meeting it deadlines.

For this reason, Madam Kwarteng disclosed that in order to avoid any of such delays this year, the Unit have made it a point to keep reminding the various departments of their duty to provide quarterly reports through texts guidelines and in person visitations.

“That is why this time around, we do not wait for them to bring the information or wait till it is getting to the end or deadline before we move out, now we are going out. Every responsibility each officer is supposed to do; we are following up.

We are communicating on the platform, putting messages across as reminders and I have told my colleagues to also go round with the format for the report with them and take the information before returning to the office. Because when you go and leave, it takes time for them to respond”, she added.
