The Adentan Municipal Assembly has rolled out a vigorous revenue mobilization exercise aimed at collecting all outstanding revenues owed to the Assembly. The initiative covers property rates, business operating permits, temporary structural permits, and other statutory levies.
The exercise, which commenced after weeks of preparation, was meticulously planned to ensure efficiency and transparency. All field officers, including task force personnel and revenue collectors, underwent training to familiarize themselves with the operational model to be used during the exercise.
Ahead of the mobilization, the Information Van Crew, led by Nii Adotey Saka, carried out an extensive public education and sensitization campaign across the municipality. This effort was designed to create awareness and encourage voluntary compliance before the enforcement teams began their work.
The main team spearheading the exercise is composed of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Seth Anim Boadi, the Municipal Finance Officer, the Revenue Officer, the Internal Auditor, the Budget Analyst, and other key officials.
Speaking during the takeoff of the exercise, Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo emphasized the importance of revenue mobilization in strengthening the Assembly’s capacity to deliver on its mandate.
“This exercise is not just about collecting money; it is about ensuring that every resident and business contributes their fair share to the development of Adentan. The Assembly relies on these revenues to improve infrastructure, sanitation, health, and education services. We are determined to reach every corner of the municipality to achieve our revenue targets for the year,” she stated.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Seth Anim Boadi, also underscored the Assembly’s commitment to accountability and fairness in the process.
“We have put in place measures to ensure that the mobilization is carried out professionally and transparently. Every officer has been trained to engage respectfully with the public while enforcing compliance. Our goal is to build trust and demonstrate that the revenues collected will be used responsibly to benefit the entire municipality,” Mr. Boadi assured.
In a related development, the Adentan Municipal Assembly has intensified its revenue mobilization strategies by embarking on night toll collection across key locations within the municipality. This initiative forms part of efforts to meet the Assembly’s projected revenue target for the year.
The night exercise has already taken the team to areas such as Nmai Dzorn School Junction and the Nmai Dzorn Melcom area, with plans to extend operations to other strategic points including Mr. Bond (opposite the West Africa Senior High School), the Taxi Rank, Rowi Junction Lane, and the Amrahia–Katamanso Junction, among others.
According to the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Seth Amin Boadi, the night toll collection is designed to capture revenue sources that are often missed during daytime operations, particularly from hawkers and stationary businesses that operate late into the evening.
Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to innovative approaches in revenue mobilization, noting that the night toll collection complements the ongoing property rate and business permit drive.
“We are determined to leave no stone unturned in mobilizing the resources needed to drive development in Adentan. The night toll collection is a strategic measure to ensure fairness and inclusivity, as many operators are active beyond regular working hours,” she explained.
The Assembly has projected that the exercise will significantly boost its revenue base, enabling it to undertake more developmental projects across Adentan. The mobilization team has pledged to visit every nook and cranny of the municipality to ensure no revenue source is left untapped.
