The Adentan Municipal Assembly has launched a week-long sanitation drive aimed at restoring cleanliness across the municipality. The exercise, announced by Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo on Friday, 16 January 2026, combines public education with intensive manual and mechanical cleaning of major roads and public spaces.
PUBLIC SENSITIZATION AND SCHEDULE
Public awareness began with dawn and night announcements across targeted communities to educate residents about the exercise and expected compliance. Daily operations run from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., during which shops and stores were asked to close until the stipulated time to allow uninterrupted cleaning.
SCOPE OF THE CLEAN-UP
Teams carried out sweeping and silt removal along key corridors, including:
– Rizt Junction to Pantang Junction.
– Barrier to Housing Down.
– MP’s office road through to the Aviation Roundabout to 3rd Gate and back to Ritz Junction.
– School Junction to Otanor Ability Square.
– School Junction to Nmai-Dzorn through to Osantor.
Both manual crews and mechanical sweepers removed accumulated silt from roadsides and pavement edges, while public spaces and major streets were cleared of debris.
LEADERSHIP AND ENFORCEMENT
The MCE personally led staff of the Municipal Assembly, assembly members and security personnel in the operation. The Municipal task force and Environmental Health prosecutors were on site to enforce compliance and ensure the exercise proceeded smoothly.
NOTABLE OUTCOME
At the climax of the exercise, The Adentan Lorry Station, which experienced demolishing recently had its demolition waste cleared and brought station back to its cleaner standard, which demonstrates the assembly’s commitment to visible and practical results.
