The National Youth Authority (NYA) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), in collaboration with the Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA), presented tools and equipment to apprentices and master crafts persons on Tuesday as part of the National Apprenticeship Programme initiated by President John Dramani Mahama.
The event, held at the Adentan Municipal Assembly conference hall, drew local and regional officials, including Hon. Mohammed Adamu Ramadan, Member of Parliament for Adentan; Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo, Municipal Chief Executive; the Municipal Coordinating Director; the NAP regional coordinator; and the NYA regional director.
PROGRAMME PURPOSE AND DISTRIBUTION
The National Apprenticeship Programme aims to reduce unemployment among youth and persons with disabilities by strengthening skills training across multiple sectors. During the presentation, the NAP Regional Coordinator, Jones Klutse, formally handed over a selection of tools and equipment to the Member of Parliament and to representatives of the assembly.
Items distributed included sewing machines, protective boots, screwdrivers, and other trade-specific tools. The equipment was allocated to departments and trades such as dressmaking, welding, and soap making to support both apprentices and master crafts persons in their work.
REMARKS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
In remarks delivered at the meeting, Hon. Mohammed Adamu Ramadan praised the initiative’s potential to expand employment opportunities and called for continued collaboration between national agencies and local stakeholders to ensure the programme’s sustainability. The Municipal Coordinating Director underscored the Assembly’s commitment to facilitating skills development and ensuring that the donated tools reach beneficiaries who will put them to productive use.
A master craftsperson and an apprentice offered closing remarks reflecting on the immediate benefits of the donations.
The organizers admonished the trainees that distribution of the tools marks a practical step toward equipping trainees with the tools needed.
