The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Adentan Municipal Assembly, Hon. Ella Esinam Christine Nongo, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 led a team of Assembly officials, personnel from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), and the Ghana Police Service to commence a demolition exercise at the Adenta Animal Research enclave.

The exercise forms part of measures to address the persistent flooding experienced in the area whenever heavy rains occur. The affected structures are among those identified by NADMO last year as being situated on waterways and earmarked for demolition.

Addressing residents, Hon. Ella explained that the exercise was intended to serve as a final warning and a strong signal to owners of the affected properties to remove their belongings before the full demolition exercise begins on Friday, June 12, 2026.

The MCE assured residents that due process would be followed and that the Assembly remains committed to safeguarding lives and property through effective flood prevention measures.

As part of the initial exercise, fence walls of all structures marked for demolition were pulled down.
