The Adentan Municipal Assembly has organized a three-day workshop aimed at improving the driving skills and knowledge of drivers operating within the Adentan Municipal Assembly. The workshop, which took place from July 16 to July 18, 2023 at the Institute of Local Government Studies, was attended by the Transport Unit of the Assembly as well as commercial transport operators.

Hon. Daniel Alexander Nii-Noi Adumuah emphasized the importance of regular training for drivers in ensuring road safety. He urged drivers to exercise caution and prioritize their own safety and that of pedestrians, as their lives are of utmost importance. The Municipal Chief Executive pledged the Assembly’s commitment to investing in workshops like this to educate more drivers and protect lives on the road. He also expressed his gratitude to the drivers and riders who participated in the training.

Mrs. Patience Lassey, the Senior Human Resource Manager of the Assembly, stated that the workshop aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of the drivers and riders. She emphasized the importance of driver education, particularly in defensive and offensive driving techniques, to ensure safety on the roads. Mrs. Lassey reaffirmed the Assembly’s dedication to organizing more training and sensitization programs in the future.

The lead facilitator, Dickson Kofi Kwakye Brobbey, provided an overview of the training program. Defensive driving, road sign recognition, stress management, and firefighting were among the topics covered during the workshop.

Winfred Sackitey, a heavy-duty driver of the assembly and a beneficiary of the training, commended the Municipal Chief Executive and the Municipal Co-coordinating Director for organizing the workshop. He encouraged fellow drivers to put the knowledge gained at the training into practice. Sackitey expressed gratitude to Expert Safety Consult, the facilitators of the workshop, for providing this valuable learning opportunity.

The Initiative undertaken by the Adentan Municipal Assembly reflects its commitment to the safety and well-being of drivers and road users within its jurisdiction. Through the provision of regular training and education, the Assembly aims to reduce the number of accidents and promote responsible driving practices.
