The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has handed over an Astroturf  football price to the Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA) on Friday, July 21 the Adentan Village opposite the Roman school.

This is an initiative by the Corporation to improve health and sports at all the Regional levels.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony ,the Adentan Municipal Chief Executive,Honorable Alexander Nii- Noi Adumuah stated that the Assembly will bring on board stakeholders such as the Environmental Health team to ensure sanitation of the place which will be used for a lot of sports activities.

“This is something which is really dear to our heart and to the heart of the people of Manmomo electoral area. There are few other stakeholders that the Assembly is bringing on board to maintain the turf. The Environmental health Unit will be here to ensure sanitation”, he said.

On his part,the head of the Corporation ,Mr. Dominic Eduah emphasized that there has been considerations to carry out such project at all Regional levels to affect the lives of people both in health and sports.

“ We have been considering this at the regional level so that every region will benefit and the one in Greater Accra has been completed and being handed over. The interest is to impact the lives of people as in health and sports together”, he said.

However, the Assembly Member for Manmomo, Honorable Emmanuel Yedu Sackey raised concerns about the amount of materials on the ground to ensure it last long and called on the technical team to enhance the place with enough materials.

In addition, a football player highlighted some reasons why the pitch can not be used and needs to be completed properly. According to him, the project has not been completed properly hence can not be used because there are stones on the field, red and black sports on the pitch which makes it unsafe for use and can not be rented out to generate income.
