THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA HIS EXCELLENCY DR. MAHAMUDU BAWUMIA WITH THE MCE OF ADENTAN MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY, THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT MINISTER AND DEPUTY CEO OF LAND USE PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT PROJECT, MR. CHAPMAN OWUSU SEKYERE.

The Vice President of the republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has assured the inhabitants of Adentan that the NPP led administration would solve the myriad problems of Ghana using the digital addressing system.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia made this known when he paid a visit to the Adentan constituency and interacted with some of its inhabitants on Monday, 12, April, 2021.
The vice president in his interaction with the residents attributed the slow pace of Ghana’s development to the lack of proper digital addressing system which he cited as a prerequisite for every developed nation’s success.
“There are many houses and properties that do not have an address and this problem is hampering development. If you do not have an address how do you get an ambulance to come to your house during an emergency situation. How do you get the police if for example there was a robbery issue at stake?” The Vice President questioned.
He revealed that, through the collaborative efforts between local government and district assemblies the government had identified about 7.5 million houses and properties in Ghana and was bent on ensuring that each and everyone of these properties had a unique property address.
“As part of the first phase of the project, we have printed about 4 million of the address plates for the 7.5 million properties that have been identified,” said the Vice Presidents.
He said the government through the local government ministry and municipal assemblies had named every street in Ghana, although the physical names were yet to be put on paper.
“All the properties are being given numbers and they all have a unique digital address. Each of the embossment that we are making for each property would see the house number and a digital address which is also embedded in the Ghana Post GPS app where you can have the details of these properties. You also have a QR code where you can have details of these properties when you scan. We have also begun discussion with google and so we expect that sooner than later we would upload Ghana’s digital address database in these housing properties into google map,” Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said.

He beseeched the citizens of Ghana to cooperate with the local assemblies when they come around to emboss the digital address plates on their houses and properties. The second phase of the project would see 3.5 million houses and properties given digital addresses.
