The Adentan Municipal Assembly on the 8th of November 2024 honored hardworking and gallant farmers and persons along the Agriculture Value chain at the 40th Farmers’ Day Celebration held at Ogbojo in the Adentan Municipality.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Ebenezer Doku (Municipal Chief Executive of the Adentan Municipal Assembly) emphasized the need to adopt sustainable Agricultural Practices to safeguard our food system. “Sustainable agriculture exceeds the production of food crops. It embraces a holistic approach that safeguards our land, our communities while empowering our farmers . It involves adopting practices that are ecologically sound, socially just and economically viable” He said.
The day was graced with noticeable personalities including Mr. Robertson Torgbor, (Rep. Nii Ogbojo Mantse), Dr. Doris Yaa Osei (CSIR) Hon. Mahmoud Ya Adjazey ( Presiding Member) , the members of the MUSEC among others.
Nine (9) persons were awarded in the following categories: Best Poultry Farmer, Best youth Farmer, Best Physically Challenged Farmer, Best crop Farmer, Best Female Farmer, Best Livestock Farmer, Best Agro Processor, Best Agric Extension Agent and the Overall Best Farmer which went to the 37years old Godwin Tsikata taking home a Tricycle, wellington Boots, Overall working Gears, Knapsack Sprayers, Agro Chemicals, Cutlasses and some assorted items.
