The Adentan Municipal Assembly has trained heads of departments, units and zonal councils on Programme Based Budgeting on August 1, 2023 at Resurrection Methodist Church, Adentan Housing Down.
This was done to equip the various heads of departments to be able to plan and utilize funds in their various offices for the benefit of all and growth of the assembly.
In an open remark, the Adentan Municipal Chief Executive, Honorable Alexander Nii-Noi Adumuah highlighted the need for the training, saying it is the good step towards proper planning in accordance to the funds receive for the assembly progress.
“Today’s own we are thinking of next year how we are going to spend money that we have not seen. Nevertheless, we have hope that the money will come and once the money will come, we will continue to plan on how to use it. With the guidance of our Deputy Director and all the other Directors here we will make sure that the money is well spent “, he said.
In addressing the gathering, the facilitator, Mr. Victor Animfu educated the heads of department on guidelines for budget preparation, programme based budgeting, legal framework for MMDAs budgeting and ceded revenue and 2% DACF for substructures and revealed that budgeting has gone through many reforms hence the need to upgrade management and service delivery.
“Our budgeting as we have has gone through a lot of reforms since the 90s and we have gradually been moving. We need to improve the physical management and service delivery that we have as assembly, which is very important. As part of the reforms, one of the things that we did has to do with the Program me Based Budgets”, he said.
