Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA) embarked on a massive mass clean up exercise on Thursday 25th of August 2022 throughout the Municipality.
The exercise was in accordance with the pronouncement made by the Regional Coordinating Council (REC) declaring 25th August 2022 as a day for clean-up exercise in various communities in all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA’s) within the Greater Accra Region. The clean-up exercise was also geared towards promoting “Operation Clean Your Frontage” (OCYF) hence encouraging individual to maintain good hygiene practices both in their work place and homes.
The exercise was carried out in all the four Zonal Areas by four groups made up of about 20 members each. Members of each group comprised of staff of AdMA, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Environmental Health personnel and National Service personnel (NSPs).
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Daniel Alexander Nii-Noi Adumuah led a group in charge of Gbentaana Zonal area through the principal streets from Adentan Lorry station towards Adenta Housing Down and also from Ritz junction towards Adentan Barrier.
In sensitizing some residents and shop occupants, the MCE mentioned that, “Operation Clean Your Frontage” is an everyday activity and must be upheld by all individuals. He urged occupants of commercial building to employ cleaners to tidy up their frontages and environment if the need be or will be charged to court. Finally, he stressed on the fact that offenders should be reported to the rightful quarters for immediate action to be taken.
During the exercise, some drainage systems were noticed to be in bad shape. However, the MCE instructed officials to attend to such issues with immediate effect.
