Stakeholders of child protection activities held a 2-day meeting at the Adentan Municipal Assembly (Conference hall) on the 19th and 20th of May 2022, to review the fourth quarter 2021, and first quarter 2022, child protection activities.

During the meeting, it was established that, some internet Cafes allow young children access to the internet and to pornographic materials.

The Deputy Director of AdMA Mr. Dey Kukubor requested for names of such internet cafes but could not get any. According to Miss Mary Mahama of Community Development Unit, whistle blowers are reluctant to provide names of such facilities for security reasons. However, Madam Sylvia Osei-Bonsu of the National Commission for Civil Education (NCCE) urged the Unit to seek the

assistance of Assembly Members and Unit Committee Members in getting the names of the internet Cafes in the communities.

Another area of concern was the extent of nudity shown on our local television with emphasis on music videos. The committee as a matter of urgency will take action and involve the Ghana media commission to help sanitize our media

Present at the meeting was the manager of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), School Feeding Desk Officer, Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) and the Social Welfare and Community Support Unit.
