The Adentan Municipal Assembly has hosted budget hearing for four Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Greater Accra Region.

It forms part of efforts to promote effective budgeting, transparency, accountability, and prudent financial management in local governance.

The event assembled the Ga East Municipal Assembly, Shai-Osudoku District Assembly, Adentan Municipal Assembly, and La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly to present their budgets for review and assessment by a technical team drawn from the Ministry of Finance, the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC), and the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

It was attended by heads of departments, staff from the participating assemblies, traditional leaders and assembly members, demonstrating the collective commitment of local government stakeholders to effective planning and development.

Each assembly presented its budget in turn, outlining its financial plans and priorities for the implementation of development programmes and the delivery of essential services to residents. The presentations provided an opportunity for the technical team to examine the proposed budgets and assess their alignment with government policies, development objectives, and financial management requirements.

Following the presentation, members of the technical team asked questions and sought clarification on various aspects of the budgets.

The interactive discussions enabled the assemblies to respond to concerns, explain their budgetary priorities, and receive professional guidance to strengthen their financial planning and resource allocation processes.

The participation of departmental heads, staff, honorable assembly members and traditional authorities further highlighted the importance of collaboration and stakeholder engagement in promoting inclusive and sustainable development at the local level.

The Master of Ceremonies, Mrs.Cornelia Asante-Obeng coordinated proceedings guiding participants through the various stages of the hearing.

The event served as an important occasion for constructive engagement between the assemblies and the relevant government institutions. It also reinforced the need for realistic budgeting, accountability, and the efficient use of public resources to address the developmental needs of communities.

The engagement concluded with the participating assemblies having had the opportunity to present their budget proposals, respond to technical questions, and receive feedback aimed at improving their budgeting processes and strengthening local governance.

By such interactive engagements, the assemblies continue to demonstrate their commitment to responsible financial management and the effective delivery of development initiatives for the benefit of their respective communities.
