Adentan, May 5, 2025 – In a landmark move for the municipality, Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo has been officially confirmed as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Adentan Municipal Assembly. The Special General Assembly Meeting, attended by key leaders and stakeholders, heralded a new chapter in local governance marked by promises of transparency, sustainable development, and inclusive community engagement.

During her acceptance speech, Hon. Nongo expressed profound gratitude to the President of the Republic, acknowledging the trust placed in her leadership. She also paid tribute to the Assembly Members whose overwhelming support cemented her appointment. “My journey has been shaped by the wisdom and guidance of those who came before me, and I intend to honor that legacy by prioritizing efficiency, accountability, and innovation in municipal governance,” she stated, setting a clear and ambitious direction for her tenure.

Her remarks resonated with a commitment to democratic principles and sustainable progress, assuring the community that her leadership would build upon the solid foundation laid by previous Municipal Chief Executives. Emphasizing that effective governance requires unity, she called on all stakeholders—irrespective of political affiliation—to collaborate in transforming Adentan into a model municipality.

The confirmation ceremony was a display of communal solidarity, drawing a diverse crowd that included the Greater Regional Minister Hon. Linda Ocloo, Member of Parliament Hon. Adamu Ramadan, departmental heads, security officials, representatives of political parties, as well as religious and traditional leaders. The presence of these dignitaries underscored the critical nature of the occasion and the shared vision for a progressive Adentan. The assembly also highlighted its constitutional mandate, referencing the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) and the model standing orders for assemblies, as the framework that underpins the confirmation process.

In an inspiring opening address, the Presiding Member of the assembly Hon. Mamoud  Ya-Adjagey invoked religious sentiments by quoting both the Bible and the Quran. The quotation from Romans 12:10—“Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other”—and Surah Al-Baqarah 2:195—“Spend the cause of Allah and do not contribute to your destruction with your own hands, but do good, for Allah loves those who do good”—served to remind attendees of the moral imperatives of respect, charity, and collective well-being in governance.

With her leadership now officially underway, Hon. Nongo is poised to ignite a series of municipal projects aimed at upgrading infrastructure, streamlining service delivery, and bolstering community participation. Her vision of a transformed Adentan focuses on innovative strategies that harness collaboration between government entities and the citizenry, ensuring that the municipality not only meets today’s challenges but also anticipates tomorrow’s opportunities.

As the municipality stands on the cusp of transformative change, all eyes are on Hon. Nongo’s forthcoming policy directions and strategic initiatives. Her tenure signals a hopeful future for Adentan, one where good governance is measured not just in words but in tangible outcomes that uplift every segment of the community. SOURCE ISD ADENTAN
