Ms Gifty Mussey, the Adentan Municipal Education Director on Thursday, 22nd February, 2024 has appealed to Mr Sami Henedak Ahmed, the Country Director for Direct Aid, to extend support to Fafraha Community Senior High School.  Addressing the challenges faced by the only public Senior High School in the Adentan Municipal Assembly, Ms Mussey emphasized the need for aid similar to that provided to Mercy Islamic schools.

The appeal was made during a brief ceremony at Mercy Islamic Senior High School, where Direct Aid donated teaching materials and offered financial assistance to struggling students. The items included exercise books, textbooks, footballs, sets of school uniform, a multifaceted printer and many other teaching and learning materials. The monetary aid amounted to 33,825 cedis cash, with the school accountant noting a prior payment of 20,175 cedis part payment towards the fees on Wednesday, 21st February 2024.

The event was held in line with the Mercy Islamic Primary School’s 20th Anniversary Speech and Prize Day on Thursday, 22nd February, 2024 which was aimed to recognize and appreciate the hard work of both the learners and teachers in the school.

Mercy Islamic Primary School was established in 1998 under the name NGO African Movement FMC by Direct Aid. The school later transitioned to Mercy Social Center and eventually absorbed and enrolled as public school into Ghana Education Service (GES) in 2004. Since then, it has been operating as a public school

The ceremony featured a variety of activities including prayers, Quran recitals, cadet and Scout inspections, poetry recitals, traditional dances, presentation of gifts and awards, as well as speeches from various dignitaries.

Responding to the request in an interview on the sideline, Mr Sami Henedak Ahmed assured readiness to assist Fafraha Community SHS upon formal application, ensuring adherence to necessary formal procedures.

Ms Gifty Mussey commended Direct Aid for its support and encouraged parents to support the Direct Aid by playing active roles in their wards’ lives and education.

Mohammed Adamu Ramadan, MP for Adentan), Mr Ali Abdul Salaam Ali, Ms Susana Ofosu, Ms Millecent Ruth, Hon. Mohammed Nurudeen Awudu, Dr Awudu Baci, Chief Sulemana Ibrahim, and the school’s headmaster, staff, and students.
