Hon. Glover emphasized the importance of academic diligence when addressing a gathering of students and community members at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Green Ghana Day on Friday, June 7, 2024 organized by the Adentan Municipal Assembly at Fafraha Community Senior High School.
Hon. Glover highlighted the need for students to excel in their exams to progress academically and become successful professionals such as doctors, nurses, engineers, etc. Drawing from his own experiences, he recounted how his journey to becoming a minister was possible due to hard work and determination. He added that he had to do menial jobs like selling cooked eggs and shining shoes to support his education. He therefore urged the students to appreciate the government’s support in paying their school fees and to focus on their studies.
Furthermore, the minister encouraged the students to care for the trees they had planted, seeing it as their contribution to the community and the environment.
The Green Ghana Day event, held at the Fafraha Community SHS Multipurpose Hall, under the theme; ‘Growing for Greener Tomorrow’, aims to plant over 1,200 trees this year across the Adentan Municipality.

The Adentan Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ebenezer Doku, on Thursday, 18th April 2024 met with school feeding caterers in the municipality to discuss the renewal of their contracts and challenges confronting them. The meeting, held at the municipal Assembly’s marriage department conference hall, addressed the needs of the caterers whose contracts had expired.

Among the requirements for contract renewal are the Business Operating permit and Health card. Mr. Augustine Cyril Jonah, the Municipal Revenue Accountant, and Ms. Josephine Boateng, Senior Environmental Health Analyst used the opportunity to educate the caterers on the need of obtaining business operating permit and Health cards respectively.
Ms. Josephine stressed the importance of the health card in preventing the transmission of diseases through the food served to students by the caterers as one may not know what he/she is suffering from until you undergo health examination.
The caterers, meeting the new MCE for the first time since his appointment in February, expressed their gratitude for the opportunity and outlined some of the challenges they face. These challenges as mentioned include delayed payments, security issues, and discrepancies in student enrollment lists provided to them.
The caterers also raised concerns about teachers not being part of the school feeding program but still requesting food, sometimes taking more than the students themselves meanwhile they are not paid based on number of teachers and students they feed, rather number of students only on the enrolment list.
The MCE, Hon. Ebenezer Doku assured the caterers that he would meet with school heads to address the issues raised. The Assistant Municipal Development Planning Officer, Mr. Paa Kweku Ofosu-Tenkorang thanked the caterers for their attendance and encouraged them to renew their permits and cards promptly. He emphasized the importance of these documents for future contract applications.
The caterers numbering about 24 expressed gratitude to the management and Hon. Ebenezer Doku for listening to their challenges and requested the MCE’s quick intervention.
