Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has urged students at Fafraha Community Senior High School to prioritize their studies for a brighter future.
Hon. Glover emphasized the importance of academic diligence when addressing a gathering of students and community members at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Green Ghana Day on Friday, June 7, 2024 organized by the Adentan Municipal Assembly at Fafraha Community Senior High School.
Hon. Glover highlighted the need for students to excel in their exams to progress academically and become successful professionals such as doctors, nurses, engineers, etc. Drawing from his own experiences, he recounted how his journey to becoming a minister was possible due to hard work and determination. He added that he had to do menial jobs like selling cooked eggs and shining shoes to support his education. He therefore urged the students to appreciate the government’s support in paying their school fees and to focus on their studies.
Furthermore, the minister encouraged the students to care for the trees they had planted, seeing it as their contribution to the community and the environment.
The Green Ghana Day event, held at the Fafraha Community SHS Multipurpose Hall, under the theme; ‘Growing for Greener Tomorrow’, aims to plant over 1,200 trees this year across the Adentan Municipality.
The Green Ghana Project is an initiative launched by the government of Ghana in 2021 with the aim of planting millions of trees annually. The project is part of a larger effort to combat deforestation, promote environmental sustainability, and mitigate the effects of climate change in the country.
The goal of the Project is to raise awareness about the importance of trees in preserving the environment and to encourage individuals, communities, and organizations to actively participate in tree planting activities. By planting millions of trees, the project seeks to increase the country’s forest cover, enhance biodiversity, and improve the overall quality of the environment for present and future generations.
Since its launch in 2021, the Green Ghana Project has received widespread support from various stakeholders, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, businesses, and individuals across the country.
The event was graced by several notable figures, including the Greater Accra Regional Chief Director, Adentan Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Ebenezer Doku, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Adentan Constituency Ms. Akosua Manu, the Chief and Queen Mother of Fafraha, as well as Hon. Assembly Members, Unit Committee Members, and some Heads of Departments/Unit of the Assembly.
