The Adentan Municipal Assembly in its efforts to contain and curb the spread of the Corona Virus held a special meeting with the headteachers of the Public Schools in the municipality to ascertain the road map for the closure of all schools both private and public.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Headteachers, representatives of the Ghana Health Service, The Adentan Education Council, The Immigration Rep, and The Adentan Police Commander and other officials of the Assembly were present at the meeting.

The Municipal Chief Executive who chaired the meeting urge all members to follow the laid down protocols such as the washing of hands under running water with soap and practicing personal-hygiene by avoiding contact with our face and nose and mouth. The MCE mentioned that the foremost thing as citizens should do is to practice self-preservation and attach importance to the washing of hands with soap under running water more than using alcoholic based sanitizer.

He also added that the Assembly has purchased Veronica buckets to encourage handwashing in Schools and offices and asked the Education office to do its best to educate the various communities on the necessary preventive measures especially in the schools as we await presidential directives for the closure of schools in the municipality. Honorable Nii Noi Adumuah cautioned all and sundry to play their directives role to combat the disease.

The Ghana Health officials sensitized the teachers on the precautions one should take to prevent the spread of the COVID 19 Pandemic in our communities and how we should try and avoid crowded places and practice self-quarantine and frequent washing of hands under running water with soap and social distancing.

The Police Commander, Sup. Peter Adjei of the Adentan Police Division advised the Teachers that, the police are expecting voluntary compliance from citizens and not be complacent of the protocols to increase community infections. He also advised not to spread false information about the Virus to prevent fear and panic in the community.

The Immigration officer of Adentan Mr. Daniel Fiaklu added that the immigration service of Ghana is placing measures in place to secure all entry points in the country. He mentioned that officers have been deployed across all borders, also CCTV cameras are being used to help the tracking system to minimize the spread of the COVID 19.

Mr. Fiaklu mentioned that per the government directive the immigration service has been ordered to stop citizens from countries that have more than 200 cases of COVID 19 from entering the country. he urged that the immigration service would do all in its power to ensure the safety of Adentan and the nation as a whole.
